Little is known psychometrically about the pattern of cognitive decline associated with AIDS-related dementia. Increased psychometric assessment is recommended with additional examination of inconsistent results, which may be dismissed mistakenly as related to psychiatric symptoms. Implications for clinical practice & the role of the psychologist are discussed.
