Homosexuality, Suicide and Parasuicide in Australia (IN: The Treatment of Homosexuals with Mental Health Disorders, ed. by Michael W. Ross)

This chapter opens with a discussion of the epidemiology of suicide in Australia & a brief overview of suicide & homosexuality. The terminology & epidemiology of parasuicide is reviewed. An extensive discussion of parasuicide & male homosexuality is followed by section on parasuicide & female homosexuality. Because homosexuality in itself was not shown to be an important risk indicator in parasuicide, the management of this behaviours is not dramatically different than that for non-homosexuals.
