A decade ago, a biological function was added to suicide research, focusing on 2 major issues, 1) are disturbances in brain functioning instrumental in the occurence of suicidal behavior and/or do such disturbances increase the likelihood of suicidal behavior? Biological suicide research has logically developed as an offshoot of biological depression research being as depression is a major precursor of both attempted & completed suicide & biochemical research targets are similar.
