Describes a study that attempts to provide a description of completed suicide in young persons. Medical examiner’s records of a consecutive group of deceased children, adolescents, & young adults were used to characterize gender, age, & temporal differences in suicide victims. Findings indicate that youth at risk for completed suicide are males who have either an affective disorder or alcohol or drug abuse & who have had an acute stressor involving social loss or a blow to self-esteem.
