Cultural considerations assoc. with American Indian adolescent coping & cultural values assoc. with death are presented. 3 situational demand characteristics are presented to show the relationship between the environment & the American Indian. This variable interdependence is essential for inclusion in intervention programs. Existing intervention programs are reviewed & a school-wide model of coping with suicide is presented. It is suggested that school curricula be adapted to cultural needs.
