This study examines season of birth in Alaska native suicidevictims. From 1979 to 1984, 90 suicide victims were obtainedthrough examination of death certificates. Results show that44 percent of the victims were born during the months April through July. The researchers attributed this finding to a seasonal difference in available light in the arctic. They postulate that being born in a setting with large amounts of sunlight (spring equinox) would predispose those individuals to suicide.
