Correlates of admission for 100 patients 18 yrs. were compared. Analysis identified variants that predicted the odds of hospitalization for each group. For adolescents these were suicidal tendencies, physical abuse, primary diagnosis of schizophrenia, age & number of attempts. For adults; delusions, aggression, suicidal tendencies & a primary diagnosis of schizophrenia or affective disorder. Implications of these results for acute psych treatment of adolescents is discussed.
