Crisis debriefing is an organized approach to management of survivor responses & is composed of 6 parts: introductory, fact, feeling, reaction, learning & closure phases, summarized here. Organized 24-72 hours after the death, it entails individual or group meeting of the survivor(s) & a facilitator, & has enormous potential to alleviate dangerous physical symptoms. It also allows education, direction, reassurance, & ventilation of feelings. (KM)
