Parasuicide in an Arab Industrial Community: The Arabian-American Oil Company Experience, Saudi Arabia

The parasuicide phenomena was studied both retrospectively & prospectively in an Arab industrial community in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia during 1985 – ’86. Though the rate is lower from the reported rates of the West, underreporting & misdiagnosis may explain the low rate. results confirm that the act is more common in young females, & in disordered relationships with spouses & parents.
