This article discusses how the mental health system has shifted to deinstitutionalization and outpatient treatment as methods to deal with funding cuts and big case loads. Crisis centres and law enforcement officials are required to be more knowledgeable about these people in the community. The Crisis Intervention for High Risk Clients was designed to aid them. These guidelines are an active method to dealing with these situations where traditional methods are ineffective. Outline is supplied.
