Suicide data for 1979-84 for each of 10 states having both sizeable Hispanic populations & data available on Hispanic suicide, was compiled by age, sex & subgroup in order to explore the possible differences among subgroups & Hispanics residing in locations other than the southwest. This summary indicates that overall the Hispanic suicide rate is lower than for whites, the pattern is similar to that of blacks, Puerto Rican suicides are younger than Cuban or Mexican American suicides.
