The author outlines the use of bibliotherapy, that is the therapeutic use of literature. The goals of bibliotherapy are to help an individual express feelings & gain insight, while providing a supportive environment. The first step in using bibliotherapy is to assess the needs of the client. Books are then chosen to fit therapy goals. Cohen recommends that the therapist be familiar with any suggested titles.
