The relationship between biological psychiatry & medical psychotherapy is examined, using depression & suicide throughout the life cycle as an example. It is argued & illustrated that medical psychotherapy is incorporated in biological psychiatry in diagnosis, by providing so-called data of introspection, & in treatment, by providing a context for mourning in a holding environment.
