The Ecology of Suicide in the Provinces of Canada, 1969-71 to 1979-81 (IN: The Epidemiology of Psychiatric Disorders, ed. by B Cooper)
Sakinofsky I~~Roberts R
This combined cross-sectional & longitudinal study explains the regional distribution of suicide in Canada. Social indicators & economic conditions are analyzed with the aid of tables. The economic findings are viewed in the context of other social changes related to suicide: evidence of breakdown in the traditional institutions, chiefly the family, of lessened social restraints in the use of alcohol & in respect for the persons of women in society.
