The high rate of native suicide has been tackled from many angles with only varying degrees of success. In this summary of his paper, the author proposes “Health Promotion”, a holistic approach consistent with native values, as a means of preventing suicide & decreasing the suicide rate. To do so, the health & well-being of the community as a whole must be improved. Peace, food, shelter & livelihood must provide the foundation on which to foster this concept. (GW)
