Ratings of over-all satisfaction with life were not related to suicide or homicide rates in the 9 major regions of the USA; also, these rates were not related to the components of the over-all satisfaction (outlook on life, stress, positive & negative feelings & personal competence) except that suicide rates were related to positive feelings.
