Suicide rates by guns, by all other means & overall for each continental state were related to 3 indirect measures of gun ownership. Reduced access to guns was significantly correlated to lower suicide rate by guns. Strictness of gun control laws was associated with a lower overall rate & accidental death rate & percent of homicides by gun were related to higher suicide rates by other methods. (KM)
