This study quantitatively and qualitatively examines the suicidal thinking of 145 high school students. A brief story about a person experiencing difficult circumstances was read by each student, who then attributed three potential alternatives to the character. 112 students attributed suicide as an alternative, 62 stated that they had thought about suicide, and 4 reported that they had attempted suicide.
