The medical & psychologic characteristics of 68 women presenting with premenstrual symptoms were compared with those of a similar group of 34 women without premenstrual symptoms. Women with premenstrual symptoms exhibited a greater frequency of previously undetected medical, psychological, & marital problems than did controls. Three of the S’s were suicidal. The findings demonstrate the need for a comprehensive treatment program for women presenting with premenstrual symptoms. (5 refs.) (LH)
