Relationships between depression & suicide are explored. The discussion includes the incidence of suicide in depressives, depression & suicide risk, primary care of depressive suicides, psychiatric management, & prevention. It is suggested that, given the facts re. the relation of suicide to depression, the characteristics of the suicidal depressive, & the opportunities for treatment, a substantial proportion of these suicides are preventable. 60 Refs.
