The evidence for sex differences in suicide is said to be clear cut. Explanations are offered for those differences including manipulative intent, choice of method & physiological & psychological differences. Sex differences persist even when the same method is used & both physiological & psychological factors seem to be involved. Hormonal differences & cultural prohibitions on aggressiveness are also thought to be important. 13 Refs. (LH)
