A cluster analysis method is used to classify subtypes of attempted suicide according to risk. It is suggested that, if the use of subtypes can be verified as a screening tool, then each new case of attempted suicide can be classified into one of the existing clusters. Belonging to a high risk cluster would mean special suicide prevention attention. 19 refs. (LH)
