Six case examples of fathers hospitalized in a general psychiatric unit are used to illustrate the diffusion of awareness around problems of fathering & the impact of illness on the father’s role. An intergenerational interview, fathers’ groups, & family involvement were used to provide insight regarding fathering problems. Aspects of intervention are included. 8 Ref. (LH)
