Intervention (IN: Suicide, Assessment and Intervention, ed. by C L Hatton and S M Valente)
Valente S M~~Hatton C L
Guidelines are presented on when, where & how to intervene in the suicidal behavior of a client. These are followed by the ways to establish the essential element of trust & to build a relationship. Crisis intervention is described thoroughly for acute problems, with more comprehensive approaches given for chronic, alcoholic or multiproblem clients. Clinical cases offer examples of intervention that can be applied & adapted to various settings with minor modifications. 26 REF.
