Abstract
Carbamazepine in the Treatment of Psychotic and Behavioral Disorders: A Pilot Study
De Vogelaer J
This pilot study indicates that symptoms of agitation and disrupted behavior, loss of impulse control (including suicide attempts) and extrapyramidal symptoms in patients with a premorbid active-ambivalent personality pattern, in the absence of clinical and EEG signs of epilipsy, constitute an indication for the use of carbamazepine. This drug allows a reduction of high doses of neuroleptics, as well as many doubtful indications for lithium characterized by selection criteria.
