There is subtantial documentation that the majority of callers to suicide prevention centres are at relatively low risk. Such callers may provide the opportunity to learn more about suicidal phenomena and to explore innovative approaches to prevention. A number of questions are raised and suggestions for prevention/intervention are given. Volunteers can provide supportive problem-solving help for lower risk callers.
