Examined data from the Registrar General’s Statistical Review to determine suicide rates for age groups aged 15+ in 5 year intervals, 1921-80. Results show no evidence of persistently increased risk of suicide across the successive cohorts of men or women, nor was there any pattern of progressive increases in suicide rate at given age groups across cohorts. An upturn in the most recent data was found, but it is too early to tell if a cohort effect is occurring with this age group. 16 refs.
