This article reports on a study of 63 severly depressed inpatients who had been drug free (with exception of moderate doses of benzodiazepines) for at least a month & 53 controil subjects. Bmax of 3H-imipramine binding was significantly lower in the depressed subjects. Depressed patients who had attempted suicide by violent means tended to have higher Bmax than nonviolent attempters.
