The values of both professionals & public concerning suicide have important implications for treatment & prevention. A survey of current mental health & suicide ideas was conducted in a random sample of 679 adults drawn from an urban population in Calgary, Alberta. Responses to a 27-item version of Domino et al.’s (1982) suicide opinion questionnaire (SOQ) indicated that people with a history of suicidal behaviors were less likely than others to agree with attitudes endorsing suicide. 8 Ref.
