The term focal suicide has been used by Karl Menninger to describe manifestations of aggressive tendencies directed against oneself, & includes self-mutilation, malingering, polysurgery, purposive accidents, impotence & frigidity. Focal Suicide includes a general discussion of the subject area followed by a subject index of self-mutilation, malingering, & Munchausen’s syndrome; an author index; & a list of international literature.
