Initial factor-analytic studies of the Aftermath of Sucide Instrument suggested that there may be 4 broad areas of social reaction to suicide. In a replication study, this 25-item questionnaire was administered to a community sample of 54 persons aged 21-77 yrs. Factor analysis of their responses identified 5 factors, but only 1 was similar to any of the original factors. While the content of the Instrument remains valid, it appears that its factorial structure requires further clarification.
