University of Texas Medical School staff administered a simple card test involving the risk of losing money to suicide attempters admitted to Bexar County Hospital’s emergency room. Those attempters who had been classified as risk takers were also prone to gamble during the card test. They conclude that risk taking seems to be a personality factor modulating many suicide attempts & is related to the judged seriousness of the attempt.
