The phenomenon of suicide by train in the county of Fyn in Denmark, is examined for the period 1979-82. All suicides (n=505) were investigated from death certificates & psychiatric journals. Sixteen suicides took place: 44% were aged 15-29; 81% were psychiatric patients; 69% had a psychotic diagnosis. A correlation was found between severity of mental illness & violence of method. 16 refs.
