This study investigates the prevalence of multiple suicide attempts among all admissions (N=511) to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for a 12-month period (1962-1963). Nineteen percent repeated their acts within a year. This group had 137 repeat episodes, most often occurring within the first 2 or 3 months. Impulsiveness, personality type, psychiatric disorder, frustration tolerance, attempt methods & demographic characteristics are examined. (11 Ref.) (NBB)
