The author states that suicide & attempted suicide are risks associated with unwanted pregnancy. An important consideration often overlooked in evaluating women for abortion is that the pregnancies themselves very often are self destructive acts, on the woman’s part, if the woman makes no attempt at contraception knowing her medical condition would be life threatening if further complicated by pregnancy. Several studies of responses to therapeutic abortion are examined. (40 Ref.) (NBB)
