The author reports the results of a survey in a high school population (N=382) that was conducted to investigate the prevalence of suicide attempts among adolescents. Nine percent had made one attempt; only 48% had reached the attention of psychiatric professionals. Harkavy & Asnis state that this study highlights the need for further research into the prevalence of suicidal behavior in the adolescent population at large. (3 Ref.) (NBB)
