Report of the Council on Scientific Affairs: Physician Mortality and Suicide: Results and Implications of the AMA-APA Pilot Study

This is the report of a pilot project conducted in 5 U.S. states by the AMA to study physician suicide & enhance its prevention through improved detection, diagnosis & treatment, & improved training of physicians. Extensive statistical data related to physician mortality is presented in tables 1 – 7. The council’s five recommendations from information gathered during this project are presented on pages 14-16. 8 ref. (NBB)
