The Law Reform Commission’s study tries to clarify the legal & moral aspects of these issues. The Commission’s recommendations for changes in the Criminal Code are vague & incomplete. This is at least partly intentional, since the Commission considers the role of the law to be the provision of minimum safeguards for acceptable social behavior. It challenges physicians’ associations to produce more detailed guidelines for making decisions about cessation of medical treatment. 3 ref.
