This nursing study investigated common themes for drug overdoses, the extent to which subjects communicated their intent, & common feelings surrounding the suicide attempt. 25 hospital subjects were assessed using an open-ended interview protocol & the Suicide Intent Scale. Results showed a strong relationship between expressed suicidal purpose & SIS score; an underlying variability of the subjects (reasons given & feeling tones) & indicated that social isolation may be linked to suicide.
