The author studied death concepts in a sample of 200 young suicide attempters & a control group of 100 non-attempters. Six major findings are discussed. These data appear to support the belief that a suicide attempt is an inappropriate attempt at communication & the victim may believe he or she is communicating even if the attempt is fatal.
