Sixty-two diagnosed schizophrenics (34 males, 28 females) were studied on the basis of suicide attempts. 44% had attempted suicide. Epidemiologic & social factors were similar in both attempters & non-attempters, making prediction difficult. 90% of the entire sample were single; 55% worked less than half time; 80% had had psychiatric treatment; and 50% were under 30.
