This study explores the relationship between social deviance & the economic structure of society, using a first degree regression technique to determine if economic change is related to changes in suicide & homicide rates. Results indicated that while economic changes do have an effect on the variables studied, this effect is mediated by (1) which particular groups are most affected by negative changes in economy & (2) by particular qualitative changes which may occur within a society.
