This article attempts to impress upon physicians the importance of questioning patients about suicide. The authors suggests appropriate interview techniques that are useful in evaluating & diagnosing the suicidal patient. Presence of psychiatric illness, absence of a suppport system & a history of indirect suicidal behavior are indications of a high suicide risk. (10 ref) (NBB)
