In this article, 52 depressive neurotics, 44 suicidal patients & 46 normal controls (mean ages 31.4, 26.3 & 22.6 years respectively) read a 7-sentence text under normal & delayed auditory feedback (DAF) conditions. Both methods significantly discriminated between depressive neurotics & controls. Differences in vocal intensity & speech errors contributed significantly to the discrimination.
