This study investigates the proportion of gifted individuals among delinquents, dropouts & suicides. The authors conclude, from a review of existing research, that (1) the gifted are at least equally represented among dropouts; (2) they are underrepresented among delinquents; & (3) they are probably overrepresented in suicides. Lajoie & Shore further suggest the notion that gifted youth do not need help & can make it on their own is a myth & that the gifted may have special needs. (NBB)
