The work of The International Association of Suicide Prevention is based on the theory that depression & suicide are closely interrelated. However, the author states that the poor results of their efforts thus far indicate new approaches are needed. Dr. Ettlinger is of the opinion that social conditions contributing to depression & suicidal behavior must be addressed in the formulation of effective prevention strategies.(NBB)
