This cross cultural study compared attitudes toward suicide of 204 university students in Jaipur, India with those of 203 individuals from Nijmegen in The Netherlands. Data from completed questionnaires revealed that Indian students were more condemning of suicide, although they attempted more often. In both cultures, an accepting attitude appeared to necessitate increasing the social distance between themselves & their native culture. (NBB)
