The authors analyzed psychological autopsy data obtained in 100 completed suicides & case history data from 100 attempted suicides to establish the joint appearance of depression & alcoholism. However, analysis of this data did not reveal a statistically significant relationship in the distribution of depressiveness between alcoholics & non-alcoholics. The authors conclude that alcoholism & depression act independently on suicide etiopathogenesis.(NBB)
