This article describes the case of Mr. Persampieri, a man who was found legally responsible for his wifeÕs suicide. The article presents an analysis of the legal status of suicide, both historical & current, then proceeds to examine common lawÕs treatment of the criminal culpability of people who assist others in suicide. A discussion of the Ôcausing suicideÕ statutes in the United States is included. (SC)
