The use of partial hospitalization allows the patient to receive intensive psychiatric therapy without disrupting daily living to any great extent. This article examines “sign out rounds”, occurring at the end of each day & involving all patients & staff. The focus of this procedure is on suicide assessment. “No suicide” contracts are negotiated with the patients & assessments made of the degree of suicidal ideation present. A comparison is made to other day programs in the Boston area. 19 Ref.
